High Above Construction is a drywall and renovation small business based in Ottawa, Ontario. Their goal is to create spaces that are both beautiful and highly functional, built with care, integrity, and a craftsman’s eye for detail.

In 2024, Eric launched High Above Construction, a drywall and renovation business, and reached out to me to create a website that would beautifully showcase his craftsmanship and attract new clients.

Pain Point
The client needed a professional website but lacked the technical skills and time to create one while his business was taking off. In a competitive Ottawa market, he wanted to showcase his work, stand out to prospective clients, and streamline consultations with a contact form that captured client needs before the first conversation.
Process
Requirements Gathering – Met with Eric to discuss his business services, goals, and needs, while guiding him in gathering the essential content required for the website.
Visual Board – Created inspiration boards to establish a consistent look and tone.
Building & Iteration – Developed the site in stages, continuously sharing progress with the client to ensure alignment and uncover additional content needs. This phase included:
User Testing – Tested with diverse homeowners to ensure accessibility and intuitive navigation for potential customers.
Iteration & Refinement – Incorporated feedback into ongoing improvements.
Training & Onboarding - Offered training to the client on how to use his new website and removed any technical barriers to ensure a successful onboarding.
Go-Live – Launched the updated website in July 2025.

Learnings
Since the client had minimal technical knowledge, it was important to explain the platform in a simple, easy-to-understand way. I also anticipated which areas of the website he might want to update in the future, such as the portfolio page. Additionally, recording the training session proved valuable, giving him the ability to revisit and review the guidance whenever needed.

Results / Win
Since going live, Eric’s website has consistently generated leads, keeping him busy with new projects. He is also looking forward to clients coming to him for business and hopes to hire a few young men to join his team as his workload grows.
